SUPPORT TO LESS PRIVILEGED STUDENTS TO JOIN THEIR ONLINE CLASSES
Because of covid-19 pandemic all over the world, the teaching from school has become via online. For poor students it is not possible to own a mobile smart phone due to economic backwardness. Seven lakh school students in Kerala risked academic backwardness and felt left behind because they lacked access to online education. Their parents could ill-afford laptops, tablets or mobile phones. Though the Kerala government has begun efforts in helping students with digital learning, the question remains on how far it has been able to address the digital divide in the state. The state government has invited the attention and interventions of nongovernmental organizations and individuals, to distribute devices to scores of students who did not otherwise have access to online classes. Sahrudaya Rajagiri is strongly trying to remove the hurdles of this remote learning by distributing mobile phones among needy students. Sahrudaya Rajagiri selected less privileged students from its different villages as its beneficiaries. Three needy students were also selected from Kripa Special School towards this scheme and four students from Manappuram centre.
